Second grade classes are working hard to identify nonfiction text features and have been examining their important role in nonfiction books. Students were surprised to find how carefully crafted these informational texts were designed to help the reader understand the information.
The Kindergarten classes have finished their first research unit on spiders. I'm sure I'm biased but I think they are could write their own nonfiction book. If you ever have a question about spiders, ask a kindergartener, they know! With the excitement of Halloween day, Kindergarten students in Ms. Delfini's class participated in a STEM challenge. Students listened carefully to the story "Little Orange House" and were challenged to design and create their own house for the witch to keep her dry all winter. Students also learned what it means to be a contributor and practiced working together and communication to share ideas. Students loved the design process and each house was unique and special. |
