Fifth grade students participated in their very first book tasting of the the year! Their theme was historical fiction+ (we had a few bonus titles). Students sampled the book selected for their novel study and selected their top choices. Looking forward to reviewing the results!
Congress Park celebrated Peter Reynold's 20th anniversary of "The Dot." This book reminds us to celebrate creativity, kindness, and bravery. See Peter Reynolds talk about his book.
I'm excited to relaunch our library's website! I hope you will find this site easy to navigate and helpful to see all the learning taking place in our LRC. We're kicking off the year with our book fair. Our goal is to help add books to home libraries and we use the profits from our fair to purchase birthday books for every student in our school, add new teacher/student selected titles to classroom libraries, and add high interests books to our LRC.
The District 102 LRC Directors and the librarians from the surrounding public libraries are excited to present some ideas for summer reading. Click here to view our slidedeck. It includes eBook collections, award winning book suggestions, information about your local libraries’ summer reading programs, our “Get Caught Reading” video and online district subscriptions you can utilize all summer! We encourage you to “look” and “click” around. All of the surrounding public libraries are hosting virtual summer reading programs, even a Summer Battle of the Books! Check out the links to those as well. Remember to keep reading this summer!
Are you planting a garden or teaching your child about plants during this remote learning experience? The weather hasn't been the best but we are trying! Here's two plant collections that we are using with first grade. Click on the picture to access all the links. The plant library does require a myON log in (district log in) and a log in for Epic.
Want to know my favorite time of the day? It's weekdays at 1:00! I try to avoid scheduling meetings and classes during this time so that I test my family's knowledge and problem solving skills with BreakoutEDU live. Check out this week's topics!
